The Blackberry Storm Review

Blackberry continues to create interesting phones that are getting smaller but creating more features. With a touchtone screen it is sure to be the phone that many choose for the coming holiday season. The fact that it uses this type of screen makes people compare it to the Apple’s gadget.

The Storm is still within the Blackberry line and continues to create what you would expect from Blackberry — a strong media player, a camera and the ability to push email as you need to from your servers.

Storm also gives you the ability to enjoy videos on a large screen as if you were sitting at the concert. With the 65,000 colors your viewing experience is enhanced on this 3.5 inch screen and you can see every detail of the video in a crisp picture.

You will not have to learn any fancy lettering or use a stick to create your letters unless you just want to because with the Blackberry Storm you can choose three different keyboards: a SurePress Touch Screen that allows you to enter text direction to a screen, a multi-tap screen or the QWERTY keyboard that many people are already used to using.

The touch screen works differently than with other Smartphones in that you have to press down on it until it clicks if you want to change the screen. This stops the annoying challenge that other touch screens have of changing the screen as soon as you touch it.

The Storm has several features that allow it to quickly get to an Internet Browser whether you are standing still or moving along the highway. The Verizon EV-DO 3G Network allows you to not only use your browser to do research but it also shows you where you are going. It has a built in GPS to take you to your destination.

One of the features we liked is the fact that the resolution is very rich and clear on the screen. They have a 480×360 pixel screen that provides you with a new understanding of your favorite videos. You can actually see them well and you might be able to pick out details you didn’t see on your last cell phone.

Although this is a terrific phone there is a challenge with the way that it works with navigation. If you are used to seeing the little popup that has you click on it to go to another page, this does not happen with the Storm. Instead, you have to pay attention to the blue highlights because this is what is used to navigate. The only other challenge is that it lacks WI-FI which could be a problem for some people.

You can use the mobile broadband connection to check email and use the various features like streaming video and RSS feeds.

The Blackberry Storm will possibly replace the iPhone (at least some people are predicting this) because of all the features you get for $199; you should also know that it comes with a standard 2 years contract.
