Sony Ericsson G705 Slider Phone Review
Sony Ericsson has announced its new Turbo 3G HSDPA enabled handset which sports a 2.4 inch screen and a 3 megapixel camera with Wi Fi connectivity and GPS receiver. The Sony Ericsson G705 is better noted as the slider phone and comes handy for those who appreciate basic utility features without looking out for the hype. The handset seems to be just the right thing to help one plan the day and cruise along without goof-ups.
The screen of the simple yet chic looking handset covers a major portion of the front side and has only 3 keys with the four directional navigation key in the centre plus a slide-out number pad. This exquisite handset allows high speed internet browsing on its full HTML browser that fits satisfactorily on its 2.4” QVGA display with a web shortcut key for a larger view. The handset can be tilted to it side to give a landscaped view. The RSS feeder provides the latest buzz from selected sites right on to the handset’s desktop.
Quick multimedia messaging and trouble-free emailing allows reasonably large files and sound clippings to be attached. A shortcut enables quick searches by using Google search. The GPS capabilities enable one to navigate through, using Wayfinder and Google Maps. The best thing about the G705 interface is that it is detailed and well organized. The four directional navi key helps to skim through the menu and submenus and back. Memos and tasks can be neatly organized making the G705 a great digital organizer.
Through an exclusive deal with Google, the G705 and all future models of Sony Ericsson will be compatible with YouTube. Now video lovers can search for videos, download favorites and even upload their videos directly from the handset. The video capabilities of the G705 deliver a reasonable performance for optimum video viewing. The 3.5 megapixel camera is not the best one can get, and although it has no autofocus, it is supplied with a LED flash that works responsibly.
It is capable of zooming up to 3.2x and even allowing video capture and streaming video during video calls. Bluetooth compatibility allows good photo sharing and data transfers between devices. DLNA support allows wireless synchronization with other DLNA supported devices. The PictBridge feature enables wireless printing of pictures.
Apart from helping get organized the G705 does not fail to entertain. Music and videos can be downloaded and played on the media player. The Album Art feature allows browsing in order to choose music. MegaBass enhances audio effect. Photos can be shared, uploaded and downloaded and stored on the 1GB M2 memory card which is said to be the smallest in the market.
Video blogging is made possible by the neat interface that allows uploading of pictures and videos on Google’s www.blogger.com/t . There is a built-in stereo FM radio for listening pleasure. The PlayNow feature helps one play around with latest music and ringtones.
The G705 comes in two colors, silky gold and majestic black, and weighs 98 g. The G705 is all set to be launched by the end of October but the price is not yet out. The G705 customized for American markets supporting GSM/EDGE/GPRS/UMTS/HSUPA will be available only by the beginning of 2009.
