Nokia 7510 Cell Phone Review

Nokia 7510 Cell Phone Review

For a long time Nokia stayed away from the clamshell design, but over the last few years seems to have converted to it in a big way. The company now has clamshell handsets in most product ranges. A new one is the 7510 which the company has introduced for T-Mobile.

Design : ★★★★☆
Ease of use : ★★★☆☆
Features : ★★★☆☆
Value for money : ★★★★☆

Although Nokia first announced the 7510 in mid 2008, T-mobile has only now gotten around to carrying it. So you start off with a phone that is 6months old. But before you decide to stop reading because you don’t want an old handset, read on for a minute.

The 7510 is not a top of the line smart phone where the latest features, operating systems and other bells and whistles are important. The 7510 is a feature phone that will meet most personal requirement and since nothing much has happened in this segment for the last 6 or more months, the 7510 is seriously worth considering.

As far as the phone’s performance goes, it more than matches Nokia’s high standards. Talk time, voice clarity, reception, ease of menu operation and reliability are all what you would expect from Nokia. In other words, you can buy it safely without any worries and if you do have any problems with it, Nokia’s reliable service is always available.

Now let’s look at the things that will be of more interest to the middle of the road personal cell phone user. Both the top and bottom half of the handset have interchangeable plates so you can personalize the phone to look the way you want. In fact the handset comes with several plates of different colors. Changing the plates is easy and only takes a moment. All the plates have a soft touch paint coating that feels good to grip. The strong hinge mechanism adds to the weight of the unit making it feel solid and firm in the hand. The dimensions are right for most adults and it fits snugly into the palm and is easy to hold both open and closed.

The keypad is well laid out and makes full use of the phone’s dimensions – the button spacing is such that the chances of your thumb pressing two buttons at once is almost nil. The keypad is easy to use and once you get used to it, error free texting is easy. The only problem lies in the movement and feel of the buttons themselves. The buttons feel soft and there is no tactile feedback. Unless you look at the display there is no way of knowing if the button press has registered on not. The navigation keys have the same problem.

The display is exceptional – bright, clear and easy to read. The menus are easy to follow and fast in response. Reading text is a breeze. All the functions load fast without any delays. Even under the most heavy use conditions there was no hanging or systems crash or even a hint of anything going wrong.

If you are looking for a feature phone that has all the functions most people need, is easy to use and is reasonably priced, the 7510 is definitely worth looking at. And it looks good too!
